CAB cuts cotton production estimate by 1.1 million balesMumbai. The Advisory Board (CAB) Tuesday revised down Indian output estimate for 2011-12 to 34.5 million bales from 35.6 million bales projected earlier, while domestic consumption raised by one million bales to 26 million bales and exports forecast increased by 400,000 bales to 84 million bales. As a result ending stocks figure revised downward to 5.53 million bales from 7.85 million bales.

After meeting of the CAB Textile Commissioner said output forecast revised downward due lower productivity in two key states namely Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

Total exports shipment so far in current marketing year began on October 1 stood at 4.4 million bales, he said.

CAB projected imports at 6 million bales.

The Board also revised 2010-11 output estimate to 33.9 million bales from 32.5 million bales and consumption to 26.74 million bales from 25.3 million bales and exports to 6.88 million bales from 7 million bales.
