Apparel size specialist Alvanon has named women’s fashion designer Rosie Assoulin to its mentorship program.
Under the program, Alvanon will strengthen Assoulin’s existing business competence with statistical sizing data and technical design tools.
“It will also provide training in key areas of the art and science of fashion, including production, supply chain issues, fit, marketing and sales,” an Alvanon press release informed.
“Rosie is a perfect candidate for our mentorship program and though she is in business since just two years, she is already an accomplished, inspired and professional designer,” Alvanon CEO Janice Wang said.
Her enormous talent was recently recognised by the Council of Fashion Designers of America when it presented Rosie with the 2015 Swarovski Award for emerging designers in the women’s wear category.
“An equally important part of Rosie’s attractiveness to Alvanon is the strength of her business team, led by husband Max Assoulin,” Wang added.
“No designer can work without effective support and Max brings vast business knowledge to the Rosie Assoulin brand,” she observed.
Rosie Assoulin has interned at studios in Paris and New York, and cites hands on experience as her primary training background.
“I have no degree in design and I learned by osmosis, by being around the business and through internships and jumping in and figuring it out as I went along,” Rosie Assoulin too said.
“I get inspiration from so many things like nature, plants and animals, and also architecture, food, music and travel,” Assoulin noted.
Assoulin also notes that her business will benefit from Alvanon’s mentoring in several ways.
She further added, “Alvanon expertise covers virtually every aspect of the fashion business and with Alvanon’s help we will improve our fit skills right along with our creative and business skills.”
Assoulin’s studio and manufacturing facilities are all New York City based, and her distribution is worldwide, through leading department stores, boutiques and web site businesses.
