Senegal: February cotton output drops by 4.2 percent


Cotton output in Senegal dropped by 4.2 percent in February 2016 compared with the previous month, the Directorate of Forecasting and Economic Studies (DPEE) revealed on Thursday.Based on data received from the Society for the Development of Textile Fibres (SODEFITEX), DPEE pointed out that this output amounted to 17,730 tons against 18,295 tons in February 2015, representing a decrease of 765 tons in absolute terms.

On the production recorded in January 2016, 3,405 tons were sold for export compared with 2,672 tons in 2015, an increase of 27.4 percent.
