Cotton futures rose for the fourth straight session to their highest in over nine months on Wednesday on concerns over the crop because of rains and flooding in the south-eastern United States. A weaker dollar and strength in outside markets also supported cotton prices, said Louis Rose, independent cotton trader and consultant with Risk Analytics in Memphis, Tennessee.

“Technically, the market is overbought, and pushing above 67 cents will likely be difficult.” The December cotton contract on ICE Futures US settled up 0.12 cent, or 0.18 percent, at 65.96 cents per lb. It traded within a range of 65.42 and 66.45 cents a lb, the highest since August 21 last year. The dollar index was down 0.25 percent. The Thomson Reuters CoreCommodity CRB Index, which tracks 19 commodities, was up 1.77 percent.
