India Cotton output to decline on pest attack

With the kharif sowing nearing to the end the Cotton farmers in India is worried about the decline in production due to the severe pest and ball worm attack. Already the flood in some areas in the country has damaged the crop and drought in some parts of the country also caused some problems.

Punjab and Haryana are the places where the whitefly attack is seen the most and in the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat pink bollworm attack is seen in the standing crops.

With the problems faced by the Cotton cultivation around the country, the production estimates for the current season has been revised to 4 to 5 percent from 10 percent, which was estimated earlier on the back of significant increased in the acreage.

Some farmers have shifted the crops from Pulses and Oil Seeds to sow Cotton for better apprehension and now, with the current situation the farmers will be very much disappointed.
